Genesis Solar Power Block Piping
New Construction Services
VALUE DELIVERED
University Mechanical & Engineering Contractors of California (UMEC) used its fabrication shop to prefabricate the necessary piping for this project, avoiding costly delays during installation on site.
CLIENT OBJECTIVES
Genesis Solar needed new steam turbine generators installed at a new concentrated solar electric generating facility located in Riverside, CA.
PROJECT SOLUTIONS
The project consisted of two independent solar electric generating facilities with a nominal net electrical output of 125 MW each, for a total net electrical output of 250 MW. Electrical power is produced using steam turbine generators fed from solar steam generators, both of which were installed by UMEC. The solar steam generators receive heated transfer fluid (HTF) from solar thermal equipment comprised of arrays of parabolic mirrors that collect energy from the sun. UMEC installed pre-fabricated piping for the HTF.
