Goodrich ChemLine Generation
VALUE DELIVERED
More efficient chemical processing; improved employee and visitor safety; greater competitiveness; convenient single-point-of-contact project management; extended capital returns through renovation of legacy investments.
OBJECTIVES
To move the client’s chemical processing lines with their associated systems and equipment to a new location.
SOLUTIONS
In need of a firm with extensive engineering expertise, Goodrich Aerostructures chose UMEC as prime contractor for the relocation of the company’s chemical processing lines, the largest renovation and relocation project ever conducted at its Chula Vista site. Forty large tanks used for processing as well as immersion and spray rinsing had to be moved into a single building, along with the chemical processing lines, paint shop, and grit blast operation.
The project also required careful demolition of existing structures and the construction of separation walls between the tanks and the concrete pits that contain them. After installing the tanks in the new location, UMEC equipped them with required industrial ventilation, heating, and cooling. In addition, UMEC managed installation of the facility’s cranes, conveyers, and fire protection systems.
