PREFABRICATION SCOPE OF WORK
UMEC prefabricated the chilled water lines that run to and from variable air volume (VAV) boxes, as well as all of the carriages for the lab facilities and supports for the roof duct.
HEALTHCARE FACILITY BACKGROUND
Sharp Healthcare is an integrated regional healthcare delivery system. The system includes four acute-care hospitals, three specialty hospitals, and three medical groups, plus a full spectrum of other facilities and services.
CONSTRUCTION OBJECTIVES
The Sharp Memorial Hospital Ambulatory Care Center is a five-story, 122,000 square-foot facility housing an array of healthcare services. These include a cancer center, a community resource center, women’s and outpatient imaging centers, an ambulatory surgery center, a pain control center, a special procedures unit, and an eye-laser treatment center.
MECHANICAL SERVICES SOLUTIONS
UMEC performed all of the sheet metal, plumbing, and piping work for the mechanical construction services project, including the installation of medical gas outlets, zone valves, and piping for nitrous oxide, oxygen, medical air, medical vacuum, and waste gases. The company also connected a number of specialized pieces of medical equipment, such as sterilizers, medical air compressors, and a medical vacuum system.
