Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Hydrogenation
Mechanical Construction & HVAC Services
CLIENT OBJECTIVES
To install the mechanical systems required to expand one of its most significant research and development sites.
VALUE DELIVERED
Expanded research facilities; leading-edge pharmaceutical research, development, and manufacturing capabilities; systems reliable enough to operate without direct human intervention; expert mechanical systems installation; convenient, single-source project delivery.
SCOPE OF WORK
UMEC (CA) installed plumbing, as well as HVAC piping and ductwork.
SOLUTIONS
UMEC (CA)'s extensive healthcare and biotechnology expertise made it a sound choice to oversee this project's comprehensive scope of work. The work involved three 500 s.f. buildings, all of which are unmanned. Inside, UMEC (CA) installed complete heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, as well as associated plumbing and process piping. The piping included the stainless steel nitrogen and hydrogen systems that play a key role in the laboratories' research activities.
Other Information: The three buildings involved in this project are located adjacent to the Pfizer Pharmaceutical Research and Development Laboratory, where UMEC (CA) also provided complete mechanical systems solutions.
BACKGROUND
Pfizer La Jolla is part of Pfizer Global Research and Development and one of Pfizer's major research and development sites around the globe. The fully integrated 33.5 acre campus consists of eight buildings, totaling more than 1 million s.f.
