This project was designed and constructed following the stringent building codes and seismic requirements of California's Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD).
CONSTRUCTION SCOPE OF WORK
Palomar Health needed a mechanical and plumbing contractor for a new 785,000-square-foot, 11-story "Hospital of the Future."
HEALTHCARE FACILITY BACKGROUND
Palomar Health is the largest health care district serving communities in an 850-square-mile area and a trauma center that covers more than 2,200 square miles of South Riverside and North San Diego Counties. In addition to three hospitals, Palomar Health offers home health care, surgery, skilled nursing, ambulatory care, behavioral health services, wound care, and community health education programs.
MECHANICAL, PLUMBING & HVAC SOLUTIONS
UMEC was the design-assist mechanical and plumbing contractor for this innovative, new facility. Project responsibilities included: fabrication and installation of all mechanical and plumbing systems; equipment procurement; air and ventilation systems; ductwork; chilled water supply and return; condenser water; domestic and hydronic heating; hot water systems; sanitary and sewer systems; laboratory and medical gas systems; lab waste and grease waste systems; industrial hot and cold water systems; RO/DI water systems; and one of the largest steam supply and return systems ever constructed in the San Diego area.
Additionally, UMEC led the Building Information Modeling (BIM) efforts.
